I'm an eclectic photographer..

During Medical School I started to make animation movies and became a member of a Dutch experimental movie collective. One of my animation movies made it to the Museum of Modern Art (Stedelijk Museum) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Furthermore I did - in the eighties of the past century - camera in a few videoclips and concert registrations of in those days popular bands/artists like Santana, Level 42, The Commodores, Kid Creole & the Coconuts, Divine and Latoya Jackson.

The main issue in my (candid) portrait photographs is about trying to capture the decisive emotional moment. The treatment is sometimes surreal in order to confuse regular cognitions or to increase impact. I try to do my own thing.

Amsterdamned is a masterful portraitist. In his profile he describes the "decisive emotional moment" and he does indeed live up to his own high standards. He has an unique way of seeing, and his post processing is surprising as it is convincing. There are people that upload 10'000+ photos on flickr - Amsterdamned is not one of them, he chooses carefully.

Even though he doesn't post many photos, his photos are of the highest quality. Anytime I log in, his are the photos that really catch my eye, and his photostream is always a pleasure to watch.

Amsterdamned is a good contact to have - and a joy to visit. What can you say about the king of portrait photography except that he is probably one of the best on flickr in my opinion- It might be down to his profession but I think he just has an eye and an empathy for the human spirit and he captures them so well - his pictures have messages for us all on how we treat our people - with respect.

The quality and depth of his work is amazing. Several of his shots transcend the term favorite and are more deserving of the label 'Classic Image.' Looking through his body of work, I often wonder if I am viewing a compliation of National Geographic photographs. He is a first class photographer that produces professional quality work and I highly recommend a thorough review of his photographs; there are so many keepers - you just have got to see for yourself.
